While the “Spendulous” Bill was being passed through Congress, people could see the unification of the Republican Party but there were some cracks in the Democrat’s solidarity at the same time. Some of Blue Dogs voted against it. Heath Shuler (D-NC) spoke out against Pelosi and Congressional leaders about fiscal responsibility. The cracks were beginning.
Now, there are more. Some Democrats are finding it harder to follow Obama down the road he is going, wherever it is taking them. On the Politico, Senator Byrd (D-WV) calls Obama policies and power grab and possibly unconstitutional. Also, the Democratic Governor Bredesen of Tennessee is following the lead of Republican Governors Jindal and Sanford and may not accept some of the stimulus money for the SAME reasons. That the bill permanently changes their unemployment programs and causes deficits and forces the states to raise taxes later.
So, more and more politicians, especially ones who have a conscious or want to get re-elected, are beginning to jump ship. They are seeing what Conservatives saw before the election. That Obama is clueless or taking the country down the wrong road. Either way, these Democrats cannot stay by his side and more will be joining the dissenters.
Our voices are being heard and we need to keep it up.
Byrd is regaining some credibility.
