We Should Love the Rich

With the vilifying of the AIG executives, something came to mind. Why does the Democratic Party demonize the wealthy? What is so wrong with people with money?

Before the 1930s, the wealthy were venerated. They were the people who created these great empires of wealth and contributed to society in countless ways. They donated huge sums of money to universities, churches, and health causes. They founded universities, private philanthropic organizations, and hospitals.

The wealthy founded influential companies and corporations that lead America to global prominence. They invented products, processes, and whole industries that became the cornerstone of America. They started the companies that provided steel, railroads, automobile, chemicals, energy, lumber, banking, and on and on without governmental help. They took insurmountable risks and Capitalism rewarded them.

Then, they reciprocated their vast wealth back to society, not because it was a tax write off or because they were forced to, but because they felt it was their duty. It was good for the public interest. It was the right thing to do. These great men of industry had honor. I would say they still do.

Now, I am not a fan of Wikipedia but the list of Robber Barons serves its purpose here. The list is just a small list of men that founded great industries and companies in America. Their legacies are mentioned as well. Carnegie, Rockefeller, and Vanderbilt are the well-known names but there are so many others. Think of your town and the streets and neighborhoods named after these men. Schools, buildings, and hospital wings are named for the wealthy as well. The list goes on and on. These men provide so much to their communities and America without being ask, but because they thought that they should.

When you look at another aspect, there is even more the wealthy provide. First, they employ workers and pay them competitive wages. This provides endless benifits to the society at large. These businesses provide goods and services used all around the world that aid the public interest. They purchase the products and services that start at a high prices, but as they purchase them, they drive down the prices so the less fortunate can afford them. Think of how plasma TVs, computers, hybrid cars, DVD players, etc. came down in price as these goods made it through society. The wealthy made this possible.

The point here is that the rich provide so much to our society and they are vilified. Why?

In the 1930s during the Great Depression, FDR used the wealthy to get elected and started something called class warfare. He used the same political tactic that Hitler, Mussolini, and Lenin used to take power.

They all vilified the have’s (wealthy, landowners, and/or businessmen) and won the votes or the support of the have not’s (poor, workers, farmers.) By splitting the society on the false premise that wealth is limited and playing these groups off each other, these leaders said they would take from the have’s and give to the have not’s, since there is only so much to go around. With the society splitting their votes and support, these leaders were elected or supported by the minority.

Gee, sound familiar? Look at what Obama and the Democrats are doing today.

This class warfare by FDR changed how America looked at their wealthy class forever. No longer were they worshipped but now characterized as greedy, ruthless, and dishonorable, even though they were not. Wealth was no longer look as unlimited and boundless, but as a limited resource that had a finite value. This was and is still completely false.

Look at Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, or Jim Walton. These men provide great products or services to the world and donate huge sums of money to countless causes. Yet, they are vilified for their greatest sin, wealth. Keep in mind, Abraham, David, Solomon, and Jesus to name just a few were extremely wealthy men from the Bible. I am quite sure they were not sinning and vilified for it.

As a side note, wealth is not a sin. Envy (covetness) is. That is what all this class warfare is. Think about it.

To this day, the Democrats use this Marxist tactic to create divisions in America to gain power. The have not’s fall for it every time, not realizing they are killing the golden goose. The wealthy provides jobs, services, most of the tax revenue, most of the donations to philanthropies, and countless other things for the common good of society. Most importantly, they create and generate wealth for the rest of us to use, earn, and aspire to.

So, the next time the Democrats start playing this Marxist game, remember that the rich provide jobs, services, products, wealth, and on and on to society. The government and the Democrats do the exact opposite. They ALWAYS destroy it.

The Betrayal of America's Left

There was a great post on TownHall.com, “The "Judas syndrome"...why liberals love to betray America” that gives a great history of Liberals and their betrayals of America.

This shows that today’s type of Liberalism has been a thorn in America’s side since 1930s. Keep in mind that Woodrow Wilson during the 1910s was much worse with bringing on the Income Tax, revolutionizing our academia, and beginning the idea for what would be the United Nations, naming only a few things. I could write an entire post on Wilson and how he was beginning of the Socialist Liberal in America, but I digress.

This type of Liberal not only brought on everything that is mentioned in the TownHall.com piece but also assaulted us domestically. FDR revered Mussolini, Hitler, and Stalin before WWII because of their incredible economies, well-run industries (socialized), and apparently efficient societies. There was a monument in NYC to idolize Mussolini, well, until WWII. The Left, including FDR, was part of this admiration until it was discovered what all them were doing to their people, such as the Holocaust and gulags in Siberia.

There can be a case made that all of FDR’s social programs began the idea that the government could do all these things for the People and the assault of personal responsibility began. The assault of the wealthy class that we see today began under FDR, as well, and he used this along with his social programs to try to create a new country (sound familiar). FDR did not waste his crisis and reengineered America He socialized part of it.

Not only was FDR a Socialist nightmare, but then LBJ came along and put FDR’s programs on steroids. His “Great Society” programs attempted to fight poverty and reengineer America. LBJ gave us programs like Medicare, Medicaid, federal education funding, Head Start, National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities, Public Radio and Television, uraban mass transit, and so much more.

All it did was create an entire class of people dependent on the government, which won’t, could, but won’t try to better themselves, because the government will tend to their needs. Personal responsibility took a huge hit with these programs and Liberalism changed America again during another social crisis, the civil rights movement and riots.

I could go on but the point is made. When America faced crises, Liberals took the moment to attempt to save America but at the same time change it. Socialize it. Take some freedom and liberty away. Betray its principle and values. Reagan, a Conservative, did the opposite. He saved America during a crisis and gave it back some of its freedom, liberty, and principles.

So, now we have Obama and today’s crises. Again, the Liberals are trying to save America and try to change it. They are trying to socialize it. They are trying to take liberties and freedoms away. Amazing, how we repeat history when we don’t learn it. The TownHall.com piece shows all the foreign policy blunders while this shows many of the domestic ones. All in all, Liberalism betrays American principles and values and has been doing it for a long time.

The following are snippets of examples from the TownHall.com post of how so many of Liberals’ actions have affected the course of American history and betrayed America and her interests:

Neville Chamberlain was your classic liberal appeaser. He had served as British Minister of Health from 1924 to 1929. After he become Prime Minister in1937, he too surmised Hitler as invincible, and called for an appeasement foreign policy, culminating in the signing of the infamous Munich Pact in 1938, selling out Czechoslovakia to Germany, and along with that --the Skoda Works.

The Munich pact enabled Hitler to realize his most coveted European objective-- Czechoslovakia's famed Skoda Works. It was the worlds largest armaments factory; it produced heavy guns for the Nazi navy; heavy mortars and the fearsome M-42 machine guns for the Wermacht (German army), as well as locomotives, aircraft, ships, machine tools, steam turbines, and equipment for Germany's power utilities.

In October of 1977, Turner decided to curb many of the clandestine practices that had brought the CIA much of its criticism from the liberal members in Congress, which were led by Idaho Senator Frank Church. In the" Halloween Massacre" of '77, Turner circulated an Oct 31st photocopied memo informing 800 CIA staffers (mostly Republicans) of their dismissal. To the joy and disbelief of our enemies, word spread quickly around the spy community that the U.S. had decided to delegate its intelligence priorities to non-human means, such as satellite observations and listening posts.

It has been noted by many historians that..."Stansfield Turner has been the single worst senior appointment in US history... and..."In eliminating virtually all human intelligence on the ground, he put the U.S. at a strong disadvantage, especially in the Middle East and Afghanistan."

Whatever his intentions, what Carter (and Turner) accomplished amounted to aiding and abetting the enemy, which resulted in our humiliation in Iran in the 1979 hostage crisis, the Russian war in Afghanistan in 1980, and the bombing of our marines’ barracks in Lebanon in 1982

And thanks to the liberal insanity of Jimmy Carter's dismantling of the CIA, we’ve lost control of our destiny in the Middle East-- giving impetus to the revival of Islamic fundamentalism-- which ultimately gave rise upon the world's stage to all of Islam's most infamous stars...Khomeini, Arafat, bin-Laden, Akmadinejad, and untold others -- including the 20 airliner hijackers who were responsible for 9-11.”

Obamanomics' Raw Deal

“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”- Albert Einstein

President Barack Obama spoke to us for an hour the other night. U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner spoke the next day. Together, they have presented two polices that not only will destroy our economy in future years but has affected us immediately, as the stock market has shown us with over a 380 point loss. Between the two plans created by “them,” they are going to spend TRILLONS of dollars to save our economy. Past history shows this will not work. I will tell it will not work. I am not economist, politician, or a professor. I am a regular person with common sense, a library card, and the ability to read. I can figure this out along with so many others who have just has much knowledge.

Obama and Geithner are going to do what Jimmy Carter, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Herbert Hoover did when the economy began to go into a recession. They are going to raise government spending, increase governmental involvement, and, eventually, raise taxes. These policies have NEVER worked.

Obama said that the policies of FDR were settled years ago and asked why people were reviving them. Well… Obama revived the debate. He said he was going to be the “next” FDR. He has said he is going to use FDR’s economic model He said this is the worst economy since the “Great Depression.” (This is completely untrue, since the economic indicators show this is as bad as the mid 1980s before Reagan’s tax cuts took affect.) So, Obama revived the debate.

Then, a University of California 2004 study:

along with many other experts have proved that FDR’s economic policies in the 1930s prolonged the “Great Depression.” It has been proved that between Hoover’s constant meddling and FDR’s catastrophic governmental spending, they transformed a brief depression that rest of the world felt to the American “Great Depression.” Even FDR’s Secretary of Treasury Henry Morgenthau said that they had spent so much money and it did not help. Only when they started to balance the budget and cut spending is when the economy improved. Then it was not until after WWII and the end of much of the New Deal is when the economy officially recovered. So, it was not FDR and, now, the debate is settled. Not quite. Why? Because, Obama still wants to use FDR’s out-dated economic policies.

The insane part of Obama/Geithner’s plans is that they are the New Deal times 10 or even time 100. Simple common sense then states that the result would be 10 to 100 times what they were in the 1930s. Therefore, Obama/Geithner are going to create the “Great Depression” again but much more worse through naïve and arrogant policies.

So, what should we do? Obama says people are saying do nothing. On the contrary, there is a lot the government can, should, and must do to insure the well being of the U. S. economy. It is sad that this needs to be mentioned as the preface of this debate in America, but, first, Obama/Geithner must promote free market principles. Our government must advance freedom and liberty in our own country. This stimulates the economy. It creates wealth, not just money, but a wealth of new ideas. The government must limit its meddling (regulations) to free the people to do what they know what to do—create wealth—which creates endless capital, jobs, and prosperity. The government is the problem—not the people, corporations, or capitalism. Socialism is the problem.

So, let’s take some examples from history to prove this point further. Yes, the same history that shows that Obama/Geithner’s policies do not work does show us policies that do. First, we have President Warren G. Harding, yes, he was a President. After Woodrow Wilson left office in 1921, our economy collapsed just as catastrophically as in 1929. Instead of doing what Hoover and Roosevelt would do 10 years later (meddle), Harding cut taxes and limited government spending. And…did nothing else. Remember the crash was worse than 1929. The “recession” lasted a year and the Roaring 20s were born. It did not become a lost decade as the “Great Depression” became. Then in the 60s, John Kennedy cut taxes in which continued the economic growth generated by Eisenhower’s policies. This unprecedented prosperity continued until Nixon and Carter adopted the Keynesian model (government spending to spur economic growth.) Nixon and Carter’s policies crushed our economic growth and brought upon the stagflation of the 70s. Strange… it did not work? Then Ronald Reagan came in the 80s and cut taxes and limited government regulations (meddling) again, which created the longest peacetime economic growth in America history.

See…there is a trend that any regular person with common sense, a library card or the Internet, and the ability to read can see. There is plenty for Obama/Geithner to do. If you cut taxes, limit government spending, and limit the government meddling, the economy recovers on its own. It “naturally” does this according to simple economic principles that Adam Smith described in the 1770s. These principles have and always will work. History shows time and time again that Keynesian economics does not work. It has NEVER worked.

There are more and more people, agencies, and experts warning what Obama/Geithner’s polices will do to our country and economy—how it will crush long term growth, any immediate recovery and cost American jobs. More people are saying this could bring on something worse than the “Great Depression.” More people are now against it that are for it—less than 30% of American approve of these policies. It seems only Congress and the White House is for them at this point.

As the stimulus (spendulous) bill passes through Congress, the stock market crashes, and gold sales skyrocket, Obama/Geithner are, in essence, watching Rome burn and playing a violin. Nero is somewhere smiling. See… as Albert Einstein said, “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” They are doing what has never worked expecting different results. They are insane, ignorant, or arrogant, or worse, have other plans that we would be all to afraid to think of—that they intend to make us so dependent on the government that we have no other choice but keep relinquishing of freedom, liberty, and “property” so we can attempt to live our every day lives.

Are they just solidifying their power and control?

Insane or ingenious, what say you?
